At CCM You Know Where Your Money Goes
When it was revealed last week that an heir to the Publix fortune gave millions to the January 6th organizers attempting to overthrow the government, concerned Floridians were outraged.
Julie Jenkins Fancelli is an heir to Publix founder George Jenkins’ “roughly $9 billion fortune” according to Forbes. Originally, Fancelli admitted giving nearly $450,00 to “dark money” groups that spread disproven election fraud claims. But recently a House of Representatives panel revealed she pledged $3 million to bus protestors to the January 6th rally.
Publix attempted to distance the company from the heir’s donation, but an investigation into Publix’s political donations by “Popular Information” in 2021 found that the company “has provided hundreds of thousands of dollars in financial support to state and federal officials who set the stage for the January 6 riots.”
Whether or not you support the attack on the Capitol on January 6th, we can all agree that Publix didn’t freely disclose its contributions. Publix shoppers were kept in the dark about where their money goes.
Co-ops, on the other hand, live by common values centered around democratic member control and concern for the community.
At CCM, you needn’t worry about knowing where your money goes. Our mission is to support our community. We work with local growers and service providers, we give money to local non-profits, and neighborhood causes.
Cooperatives are transparent about financial contributions, too. In fact, each year we invite members to vote for their favorite local charities in our Change for the Community program.
Rest assured that when you shop at CCM your dollars are dedicated to improving the quality of life for our staff, customers, suppliers, and neighbors right here in Tallahassee.
