  • Purpose

    The Marketing Manager is a flexible and versatile marketer who will be responsible for the growth of customer count and sales. Responsible for the building and maintenance of a strong and consistent brand through a wide range of online and offline marketing channels.

    · Reports To: Chief Operating Officer / General Manager

    Status: Exempt; Full time

    Marketing manager’s responsibilities include tracking and analyzing the performance of advertising campaigns, managing the marketing budget and ensuring that all marketing material is in line with our brand identity. To be successful in this role, one should have hands-on experience with web analytics tools and be able to turn creative ideas into effective advertising projects.

    Essential Responsibilities and Functions

    Customer Service

    · Treat internal and external customers fairly, consistently and with respect.

    · Provide efficient and friendly service.

    · Ensure that customers are not exposed to internal disagreements.

    · Provide product information and educational materials to customers and staff.

    · Investigate and respond to customer requests.

    Communications

    · Communicates honestly, openly and respectfully with everyone in the organization.

    · Communications are clear; ensures that they have been understood.

    · Stays informed by consistently reading and responding to all forms of communication from others; emails, time clock messages, texts, log books.

    · Takes frequent opportunities to recognize good work.

    · Communicates needs promptly and efficiently.

    · Resolves conflicts promptly; asks for assistance as needed.

    Marketing

    · Post to social media outlets as needed or requested per promotions calendar.

    · Create and print newsletter in a timely manner.

    · Update website with sales fliers and menus in a timely manner.

    · Investigate new ways to promote the Co-op.

    · Track return on promotional mailings and communicate results to management.

    · Take photos for business use as needed.

    · Attend branding meetings and participate in brainstorming sessions.

    Job brief

    Responsibilities

    Develop strategies and tactics to get the word out about our company and drive qualified traffic to our front door.

    Deploy successful marketing campaigns and own their implementation from ideation to execution.

    Developing Public Relations contacts and image by being the spokesperson and developing press releases on company news and in-house events.

    Experiment with a variety of organic and paid acquisition channels like content creation, content curation, pay per click campaigns, event management, publicity, social media, lead generation campaigns, copywriting, performance analysis.

    Produce valuable and engaging content for our website and newsletter that attracts and converts our target group.

    Build strategic relationships and partners with key industry players, agencies, and vendors.

    Prepare and monitor the marketing budget on a quarterly and annual basis and allocate funds wisely.

    Oversee and approve marketing material, from website banners to hard copy brochures and case studies.

    Measure and report on the performance of marketing campaigns, gain insight and assess against goals.

    Analyze consumer behavior and adjust email and advertising campaigns accordingly.

    Promotions & Events

    · Coordinate with Management on selection and design of branded merchandise.

    · Plan and implement outreach events.

    · Design displays as requested.

    · Utilize NCG tools when appropriate.

    · Participate in resets as requested.

    Requirements and skills

    Demonstrable experience in marketing together with the potential and attitude required to learn.

    Proven experience in identifying target audiences and in creatively devising and leading across channels marketing campaigns that engage, educate, and motivate.

    Solid knowledge of website analytics tools (e.g., Google Analytics, NetInsight, Omniture, WebTrends).

    Experience in setting up and optimizing Google Adwords campaigns.

    Numerically literate, comfortable working with numbers, making sense of metrics and processing figures with spreadsheets.

    A sense of aesthetics and a love for great copy and witty communication.

    Up-to-date with the latest trends and best practices in online marketing and measurement.

    · Excellent oral and written communication and listening skills.

    · Ability to supervise, manage and motivate self and staff.

    · Ability to work well with others in a cooperative environment.

    · Follow through with delegated tasks.

    · Ability to prioritize multiple, time-sensitive tasks.

    · Knowledge of current advertising, branding, and marketing best practices.

    · Knowledge and use of all forms of social media.

    BSc/MSc degree in Marketing or related field or ten years’ experience in marketing and public relations.

    Working Conditions

    · Frequent exposure to cold, hot, wet or humid conditions.

    · Exposure to fumes, airborne particles, hazardous materials ranging from natural to chemical (store products, cleaning products, scents from working in a public setting).

    · Exposure to and potential handling of fresh foods including meats and seafood.

    · Handling objects that have been handled by the public.

    · Frequently performs work standing on cement floors at the cash register.

    · May work occasionally in temperature extremes (walk-in freezer, outside warehouse, hot kitchen, etc.).

    · Noise level in the store is usually moderate to loud.
